Matt Jones

Works at: Nokia

Blog/website: www.blackbeltjones.com/work

Track: Design

Why do we invite Matt ?

  • He approaches emerging technology with the sensibility of a designer, moving with fluidity from the highest level concepts to the tiniest details. (Ok, so I get fussy over kerning. Is that a crime? - Matt)
  • He watches the future and the past and knows exactly what’s moving today. (My favourite quote is ‘telling lies about the future makes history’ by Umberto Eco... I watch what people purport to be the future then try and compare it to what we know about the past - matt)
  • He filters and shares his views AND he displays the rare abilities to be both prolific and articulate. (Want to know a secret? I outsourced writing my blog to some guys from Mumbai 3 years ago. Don’t tell anyone! - Matt)
  • A-Levels: Computing, Physics, Art. Say no more. (I’ve forgotten it *all*. Don’t ask me anything about Fortran, please. - Matt)
  • He sketches.
  • He DJs.
  • He’s a visionary who can deliver, which keeps the suits happy (Nokia, BBC, Sapient, KPMG) (I *think* they were happy - that’s why they were crying, right? - Matt)
  • He just might remember how to conjugate a few French verbs, which could both help (and entertain) some of the Francophone LIFT participants. (Nope - my French is the only thing worse than my Fortran... - Matt)

Who should attend his talk?
Folks interested in ubiquitous computing, architecture, beautiful machines and the future.
